About The Collector's Briefcase
The Collector's Briefcase sets five real auction lots on a salon stage, and the five real prices they sold for on a board above them. You don't know which price belongs to which lot. Claim the one you think is cheapest, then sell it to the Collector for more than it is worth. Every lot you reveal from the table takes its price off the board, and the Collector phones in a new offer for yours.
How to play
- Look over the five lots and the five prices on the board, then tap the lot you think is the cheapest and tap Claim.
- The Collector calls with an offer for your lot. Tap Sell to take it, or Reveal Another to keep going.
- To reveal, tap a lot still on the table, then tap Reveal: its price comes off the board and its card shows what it really was.
- Each reveal brings a new offer, and the offers tracker at the top shows whether it went up or down.
- With two lots left comes the final call: say Yes to sell, or Give Up and pay a 10% fee on your lot. Your lot's price is then revealed, and the Sale Report shows your profit or loss.
Tips
- The best deal is claiming the cheapest lot and selling it at the highest offer.
- Reveal the lots that look cheap: every cheap lot that leaves the board pushes the Collector's offer up.
- Revealing the most expensive lot drops the offer, so weigh each reveal before you tap.
- Read the spec lines: material, era, maker and provenance give away a lot about price.
- You can sell at any call. If the offer already beats what your lot looks worth, take it.
What's in the game
- Real objects with the real prices they sold for
- A Collector who phones in a new offer after every reveal
- An item card for every revealed lot
- A Net Worth that carries across every deal
Questions
Is any real money involved?
No. The prices and your Net Worth are play money; nothing is bought, sold or wagered.
Are the prices real?
Yes. Every lot is a real object, and its price is what it really sold for.
What happens if I give up?
You keep your lot unsold and pay a 10% fee on what it was worth, which comes off your Net Worth.
